With over 25 years experience, Chris is a sought-after experience designer, workshop facilitator, communications expert, and event moderator. Working all over the globe for a variety of organizations, he has facilitated workshops in his native English, as well as Japanese and Spanish for some of the top companies and organizations in the world on diversity, creativity and innovation, and communication and corporate culture. He has helped design the customer experience for Japan’s major national and private museums.

Psychology

Chris began his workshop facilitation career in the psychology field at a drug rehabilitation program in the US, leading inpatient and outpatient workshop sessions on a MICA unit (mental illness chemical addictions) for two years before heading to Japan to study Japanese.

Once in Tokyo he started his own company, in the moment, ltd., in 1997 to provide workshop creation and facilitation services for corporations and organizations in Japan and abroad. He had earlier co-founded the Tokyo Comedy Store and pioneered improvisation in Japan, and brings skills in that field to his training events.

International Work

Since then, his work has taken him to Europe, North and South America, the Middle East and the rest of Asia, and he has facilitated workshops in places as varied as Tokyo, Vienna, Liechtenstein, Würtzburg, Milan, Rome, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Beijing, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Dubai.

Past and current clients include Daimler-Chrysler Fuso Motors, Nike Japan, Coca-Cola East Japan, McKinsey Japan, Ai Qi Yi, National Art Center Beijing, Pioneers Vienna, Techsauce Bangkok, International Institute of Finance, FIBC Tokyo (Financial Innovation Business Conference), and the Tokyo Agricultural Tech Summit, among others.

NHK and the National Museums of Japan

He has had a long-standing relationship with NHK World, the national broadcaster of Japan, and is frequently asked to provide narration for their television shows and documentaries. This also led to engagements with the national museums of Japan in Tokyo and Kyoto, where you can hear him on their audioguides. He is proud to have the opportunity to promote the culture of his adopted country to the world in this way.


Training and Facilitation


His company in the moment, ltd., has provided workshops on communication, creativity and innovation since 1997. Workshops include a variety of activities designed to get participants up and moving and participating in an active way. Chris draws on his experience in psychology, Design Thinking, and improvisation to create unique workshops tailor-made for each client’s requirements.
